Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive contractor to join the Operational Risk and Resilience (ORR) team for a 12-month engagement. The primary purpose of this role is to support the business in integrating ORR considerations into the planning and deployment of strategic initiatives. A key focus will be the development of detailed process maps and the extraction of associated control inventories, which will later underpin our Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) programme. This is a hands-on role ideal for a contractor with a background in operational risk, process analysis, and control documentation within the financial services or fund administration sector.

Strategic Initiative Support:

  • Work alongside business teams to ensure that operational risk and resilience considerations are embedded into strategic projects from inception to implementation.
  • Act as an ORR representative in project discussions, helping to identify and address potential risks and resilience impacts.

Process Mapping and Control Identification:

  • Collaborate with process owners and SMEs to develop and validate end-to-end business process maps aligned with the organizations business service catalogue.
  • Identify key controls within mapped processes and document them clearly in a structured control inventory – ensuring risk coverage extends across the broader risk domains as needed.
  • Ensure controls are described in a risk-informed manner, specifying objective, frequency, ownership, and method of execution.
  • Support the refinement and validation of controls to ensure they align with operational risk management and resilience standards.

RCSA Programme Enablement:

  • Develop artefacts that will directly support the future rollout of the RCSA programme, including process documentation and control templates.
  • Liaise with the Operational Risk team to ensure consistency with existing frameworks and methodologies.
  • Support handover activities to ensure continuity beyond the contract term.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in operational risk, business process analysis, or internal controls within financial services, preferably fund administration or asset management.
  • Post-secondary degree in accounting, finance, law, economics, business or a related discipline
  • Professional qualification in risk or a related discipline would be preferred
  • Proven experience developing process maps using tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or equivalent.
  • Strong capability in writing and evaluating operational controls as part of process documentation.
  • Understanding of RCSA frameworks and their practical application.
  • Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) tools is an advantage.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to break down complex processes into logical components.
  • Clear and precise technical writing skills, particularly for documenting controls.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – able to work collaboratively across departments and seniority levels.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, project-oriented environment.
