Please note: This is an internal role open to Jigsaw Youth Advocates only. 

POSITION SUMMARY 

This is a three-month internship post (June – August 2025) working alongside the Youth Voice & Engagement team. As well as working with the Youth Voice & Engagement team, the Jigsaw Intern will spend periods of time with the Youth Mental Health Promotion, Communication & Fundraising, Research & Evaluation teams throughout the three-month post. This post will also involve general office duties outlined below. 

 

ROLE SUPPORTS 

To support the person in the role, the Youth Voice & Engagement Coordinator will provide regular supervision. In addition, any training/upskilling required to carry out tasks, will be provided on the job as identified through supervision to support the person within their role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work alongside the Youth Voice & Engagement team on continuing to evolve our approach to youth voice, participation, and engagement within Jigsaw, including co-facilitating spaces, planning and training days with the team. 
  • Support the Youth Voice & Engagement Coordinator in organising Youth Advocate meetings during summer months including taking meeting minutes and organising travel and food arrangements. 
  • Support participatory and training initiatives throughout the summer.  
  • Work with the Research & Evaluation, Human Resources and the Youth Mental Health Promotion Departments, where relevant, on a variety of projects and programmes 
  • Support the Fundraising and Communications team in developing, planning and implementing a range of fundraising initiatives and campaigns.  
  • Support the developments of digital and social media resources and materials 
  • Sit on interview panels for new staff, when required. 

Requirements

Essential  

  • In line with Jigsaw policies and procedures, you must be aged 16 or over and be Garda Vetted 
  • Must be an active Jigsaw Youth Advocate

  • Warm and friendly approach  
  • Passionate about young people, their mental health and achieving change in Irish society 
  • Good interpersonal skills 
  • Strong organisational, administrative and time management skills 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate and work with a range of professionals and young people  
  • Reliability/flexibility and commitment  
  • The ability to manage and prioritise own workload  
  • The capacity to work both on your own initiative and as part of a small team 
  • Strong IT Skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Teams, Zoom, Slack. 
  • Discretion and confidentiality 
  • Be flexible in relation to working hours in line with project requirements (some evening and/or weekend work). 

Benefits

  • Remuneration for this role is €2,372.93 per month (for the period from 10th June to August 31st). 
  • 6.5 days’ annual leave.
