Purpose:

This individual will develop and expand advanced methodologies for the integration of multiplicity adjustments with Bayesian dynamic borrowing techniques in clinical trials. This project will focus on extending the elastic prior and parallel weighted Bonferroni procedures for studies involving multiple, potentially correlated endpoints and real-world data complexities. A real-world data application will also be considered. The student will gain hands-on experience working with clinical trial data and developing statistical methodology within the pharmaceutical industry.

Primary Responsibilities 

Methodology Development and Simulation Work

• Expand the existing Bayesian dynamic borrowing framework to account for multivariate endpoints, reflecting the correlation structures present in real clinical trial data.
• Develop a program to implement the integration of Bayesian dynamic borrowing and graphical multiplicity adjustment procedures in parallel for these more generalized and realistic scenarios.
• Design and execute simulation studies to determine sample size requirements and evaluate power/type 1 error control under various congruence scenarios.

• Provide comprehensive documentation and user guides for the new methodology and programs.

Real Data Application

• Perform a retroactive comparison using historical Lilly trial data, to investigate how this framework would have performed if it had been utilized as part of the prospective study design.

Collaborative Project Work 

• Participate in weekly structured meetings with supervisors to review progress, receive feedback, and prioritize future tasks.
• Participate in Placebo-Borrowing team group discussions.
• Communicate findings to the wider team.
• Produce a manuscript for submission to a statistics journal.

Minimum Qualification Requirements: Enrolled in a PhD in statistics or biostatistics.
