We’re looking for a people manager who knows how to lead design projects. A senior designer who has transitioned into a leadership role. We want someone who is process-oriented, has good organisation and communication skills, with excellent people skills.
This role is critical for the successful delivery of key strategic initiatives for our partners. You will be responsible for assisting your team members, leading design projects, handling senior stakeholders and representing design with external partners. You will also contribute to the development of our design team by building career development plans, supporting in recruitment drives and having regular 1:1’s with your direct reports. This role will require you to balance design and leadership responsibilities.
Main accountabilities and key tasks:
Line management of team of Product Designers
Strategic input into the development of the Product Design function at CarTrawler
Inputting into project scoping, drafting discovery plans or setting the creative direction of a project
Influencing the strategic direction and shape of our products
Delegation of tasks to other designers and coordinating with other designers giving critical feedback to help move projects in the right direction

Critical Interfaces:
Working closely with the Head of Product Design to develop the design function
Working with other senior product and engineering leaders to understand objectives, outcomes, and requirements for our Partnerships squads
Working with our Senior Product Designer to support the development of our design system to unify our products
Working closely with product managers, and designers to better understand our user needs through prototype testing, moderated research, surveys, and user interviews
Working with engineers to understand the technical feasibility of solutions as well as brainstorming to solve complex problems
Working closely with stakeholders from across the business to understand and solve design problems
Knowledge and Experience:
5+ years working in a design related role with a minimum of 2+ years management experience
Experience leading design projects
Experience delegating tasks to team members and reviewing work
Experience mentoring or coaching other designers
Comfortable managing senior stakeholders and being the point of contact for design
Experience facilitating workshops
Passionate about design and an advocate of Design Thinking
You’re an effective communicator at all levels within the team (tech, design, research) as well as other business functions
Expert knowledge of industry standard tools such as Figma and the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
Ability to switch between analytical and creative thinking
Detail-oriented – ability to capture all elements of requirements and scenarios and address edge cases
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Ability to rationalise design choices and showcase data informed decisions throughout your work
