Starboard Group is seeking a dynamic, people-focused Assistant Manager to join our retail leadership team aboard a premier luxury cruise ship. What You’ll Do:

  • Lead & Develop Talent: Coach, motivate, and inspire a diverse retail team to deliver exceptional guest service and achieve sales targets.
  • Drive Results: Partner with the Retail Manager to develop sales strategies, analyze performance, and implement actions to maximize revenue and guest satisfaction.
  • Champion Guest Experience: Set the tone for an upbeat, welcoming atmosphere that delights guests and embodies the Starboard Way.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee store operations, ensure compliance with company and cruise line policies, and maintain high standards for inventory, safety, and presentation.
  • Build Relationships: Collaborate with onboard management and foster a culture of transparency, teamwork, and continuous improvement.


Requirements

  • Experience: 1-2 years’ management experience in retail or hospitality (luxury experience a plus).
  • Education: High school diploma required; further studies in retail/hospitality are a bonus.
  • Skills:
    • Natural leader with a proven record of developing talent
    • Strong communicator with multicultural awareness
    • Confident decision-maker and problem-solver
    • Adaptable, resilient, and thrives in a dynamic, high-energy environment
    • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Able to travel/live aboard a cruise ship for 6-month contracts
    • Willing to work up to 77 hours/week, 7 days a week
    • Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 55 lbs
    • Must have a valid passport (seaman book a plus)
    • Able to participate in safety drills
