RTÉ’s Commercial Internship is an opportunity to learn and contribute to the commercial development of Ireland’s national broadcaster.  

RTÉ’s mission is to serve as an independent source of stories, news, information and entertainment for Ireland, reflecting the diversity of its people and providing experiences that enrich the lives of all. 

As our 2025 Commercial Intern you will collaborate closely with the Sales, Sponsorship and Trading teams, working on presentations, client partnerships and marketing updates that feed into the overall commercial team efforts.    
 
Who we’re looking for?  

We want to hear from people with an inquisitive mind and who are interested in working in a commercial environment, or who have an interest in the advertising, marketing and communications industry. 

We’re not looking for specific media experience for this internship, but you’ll need awareness and excitement about a wide range of media (for example Television, Radio, Social media, Digital media, YouTube, TikTok). 

The skills and qualities you’ll have include.

What do we offer? 

This paid internship offers a 6-month fixed-term contract with RTÉ and a salary of €30,113 per annum pro rata (€15,056 for the 6-month contract). Throughout your internship, an RTÉ mentor will provide regular support for your professional development. 

If you are successful, you will receive three weeks of bespoke training followed by a five-month internship. You will receive training on all aspects of creating and delivering content followed by specialist training with the commercial team to prepare you for your role.  

We will provide training, support and mentoring throughout your placement.

The deadline for all internship applications is midnight on Sunday 16th February 2025.   

Assessments for all opportunities will take place in person, in Dublin on Monday 31st March 2025.  A brief online follow-up chat will take place on Tuesday 1st April 2025. Unfortunately, there are no alternative dates available.

Please note   

  • The internship starts on Monday 12th May and ends on Friday 7th November 2025.  
  • Training for all interns takes place in Dublin during office hours from 12th May to 30th May 2025. The training is an integral and mandatory part of the internship.  
  • English-language interns will work in-person, on-site, in Dublin for the duration of the internship. 
  • Following the training period in Dublin, the Gaeilge internship work placement, which is in-person and on-site, could take place in one of the following places: Conamara, Corca Dhuibhne or Doirí Beaga.  
  • Work placement hours will be determined by each department. Flexibility is crucial as evening and weekend work may be required, as well as occasional travel.  
  • Dates are fixed, you must be able to devote all your time and attention to this internship. It will not be suitable for those in full-time education.
